Line-ups at grocery stores and LCBO outlets seemed to be the response in Newmarket to Premier Doug Ford's order that all "non-essential workplaces" will close effective Tuesday, March 24, 11:59 p.m. for 14 days.

Tomorrow, the province is to release a list of businesses permitted to stay open, however, he said that grocery stores, pharmacies, take-out restaurants and LCBO outlets and The Beer Store would remain open.

"It means food will remain on the shelves. It means Ontarians will still have access to their medications and essential products. It means the power will still stay on and telecommunications will continue to run, but it also means that every Ontarian must do their part," Ford said.

"If you can, please stay home. Only leave if necessary."

The province will extend the order if necessary.
