Ontario Health has reported another 408 confirmed cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the province’s total to 4,038.
This morning, York Region public health is reporting an additional 13 confirmed COVID-19 cases, to reach 444 cases, as well as two more deaths in Markham, now totalling 16. Yesterday, the region confirmed a woman in her 80s was its 14th death, and the ninth death in Markham.
The total number of infected health-care workers in York Region has increased from 31 to 34 this morning, with additional cases in Aurora, Markham, and Richmond Hill.
In Ontario, 1,449 cases are resolved (recovered) and 119 deaths are linked to the virus.
There are 523 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and 200 of those are in an intensive care unit. There are 154 people on a ventilator due to COVID-19.
Ontario has now tested 75,046 people for COVID-19 and there remains 981 cases under investigation.
The data reported by the province this morning was current as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
The province is also reporting outbreaks at 44 Ontario long-term care homes, yesterday there were 36.
On Saturday, a province-wide emergency alert went out to Ontarians telling them to stay home and only to go out if it’s absolutely necessary.
Global News has reported the Department of National Defence says members of the Joint Task Force Central will be heading from units across Ontario to Canadian Forces Base Borden.The department says the aim is to form a task force at Borden.
The troops will then be ready to respond to any requests from the government to help deal with COVID-19 or potential spring flooding.
