Health-care workers get front-of-line access at Loblaws, Shoppers

All they have to do is show health-care ID
LOBLAWS

Health-care workers will have an easier time shopping at most Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart stores during the pandemic.

The company announced yesterday that upon showing health-care ID, those workers will get to skip line-ups to enter most stores.

At Shoppers Drug Mart, they will receive priority at the pharmacy counter, as well as checking out.

“They spend long and stressful shifts supporting directly impacted individuals, and often don’t know when exactly they will be working from week to week,” said Executive Chair Galen Weston in a note to PC Optimum customers. “This uncertainty makes shopping for their own essentials very hard.”

Other stores included under the Loblaws umbrella are Zehrs, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Your Independent Grocer.

Costco has been providing priority access to health-care workers and first responders during the pandemic and Longos has also announced a similar policy.
