As our communities slowly re-open from the pandemic lockdown, businesses face unprecedented challenges in navigating a path back to prosperity. There is no “playbook” on best practices, consumer patterns have changed, and each industry sector faces unique requirements. The solution? YRBiz Road Map to Recovery, which offers a series of free online workshops, resources and networks for local businesses to quickly access the most current information, insights and tips to get back to profitability.

The Newmarket and Vaughan Chambers of Commerce, in partnership with the Regional Municipality of York, and with support from the York Region Business Coalition, are launching the first phase of the Road Map to Recovery business series, which will run from July to October. The sessions will be delivered virtually via Zoom and will feature practical strategies that participants can apply to their own businesses.

The series is free of charge and offers speakers, workshops, worksheets and Q&As with experts from a variety of fields. It is designed to be responsive, with content being guided by suggestions directly from local businesses.

“As York Region continues to navigate the challenges of reopening, businesses are looking for support in terms of protocols, safety measures and pivoting to an online platform. We are pleased to be able to offer this series in partnership with the Regional Municipality of York,” said Brian Shifman, President & CEO of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce.

“The recovery requires strong collaboration and help navigating through a constantly changing landscape for business — that is the focus of this series,” added Tracy Walter, President & CEO of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce.

“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our economy and local businesses,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson. “Through partnership and collaboration we are working together to ensure supports and resources are available for full economic recovery.”

The first session happens Thursday, July 23 from 9 to 10 a.m. on Zoom, and will showcase practical strategies on how small businesses can implement the order for mandatory masks in public spaces.
