  • 117 confirmed cases of COVID-19
  • 1 additional case since April 20
  • 1 additional death, totalling 6
  • 2 cases are hospitalized in intensive care
  • 8 health-care workers are infected
  • 17 cases (15 per cent) resolved
  • 5 institutional outbreaks under COVID-19 protocols
  • 5 residents have died of outbreak acquired COVID-19
  • 58 residents of long-term care, group homes have COVID-19
  • 30 health-care workers at long-term care, group homes have COVID-19
  • 64 cases (55 per cent) acquired by outbreak
  • 12 cases (10 per cent) acquired by travel
  • 11 cases (9 per cent) acquired by community transmission
  • 21 cases (18 per cent) under investigation
  • 64 cases (55 per cent) females
  • 33 cases (28 per cent) aged 80+
  • 24 cases (21 per cent) aged 65 to 79
  • 22 cases (19 per cent) aged 55 to 64

York Region (reported at Tuesday, April 21, 5 p.m.)

  • 1,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19
  • 52 new cases since April 20
  • 8 more COVID-19 related deaths, totalling 60
  • 39 cases are hospitalized; 19 patients in intensive care
  • 72 health-care workers are infected
  • 1 health-care worker death
  • 243 cases (20 per cent) resolved cases
  • 32 institutional outbreaks under COVID-19 protocols
  • 34 residents have died of outbreak acquired COVID-19
  • 242 residents of long-term care, group homes have COVID-19
  • 186 health-care workers at long-term care, group homes have COVID-19
  • 281 cases (23 per cent) acquired by outbreak
  • 232 cases (19 per cent) acquired by close contact
  • 197 cases (16 per cent) by community transmission
  • 128 cases (11 per cent) acquired by travel
  • 363 cases (30 per cent) under investigation

Ontario (reported at 10:30 a.m. today):

  • 12,245 confirmed cases of COVID-19
  • 510 new confirmed cases today
  • 37 more deaths, totalling 659
  • 441 deaths of individuals aged 80 and over
  • 295 individuals have died in long-term care homes
  • 125 outbreaks reported at long-term care homes
  • 35 outbreaks at hospitals
  • 878 cases are hospitalized; 243 in intensive care units; 192 on ventilators
  • 415 additional recoveries, 50.8 per cent of cases
  • 10,361 more tests completed, with 6,845 awaiting results
  • 1,275 (10.4 per cent) acquired by travel
  • 2,205 (18 per cent) acquired by close contact
  • 3,836 (31.3 per cent) acquired by community spread
