First COVID-19 case confirmed in Aurora (UPDATE)

The woman in her 20s is among the total of 19 confirmed cases in York Region
coronavirus

UPDATE: 4:45 p.m.: A woman aged in her 20s in Aurora is among the total of 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 today in York Region.

It's the first case confirmed in Aurora, and like the other cases, is travel related and the individual is in self-isolation.

The majority of the cases are in southern York Region: eight in Vaughan, six in Richmond Hill and three in Markham. Newmarket has had one confirmed case.

UPDATE: 1:15 p.m.: Of the five additional confirmed COVID-19 cases in York Region, two are in Vaughan and one in Markham. Further details regarding the additional two cases have yet to be provided.

According to York Region public health, the 13th case, in Markham, is a man aged in his 40s. 

A woman aged in her 70s and a woman in her 60s are the two cases in Vaughan.

The cases are travel related and the individuals are self-isolating.

The number of confirmed cases in Ontario has jumped from 145 to 177 as of this morning, March 16, with five additional cases in York Region, according to the province's dedicated website.

As of yet, York Region public health is not reporting the additional confirmed cases. Total confirmed cases are currently 17 in the region.

The only further details provided are that all of the individuals are in self-isolation.

The additional 32 cases in the province confirmed as of 10:30 a.m. March 16 are in York, Toronto, Peel, Durham, Halton, Ottawa, Hamilton, Niagara, and Wellington Dufferin Guelph, and Sudbury.

More than 8,400 individuals in Ontario have been tested for coronavirus, with 1,537 awaiting results currently, and 7,004 have tested negative. Five of the cases have been resolved.
