2 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases in Markham

Two additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Markham, bumping York Region's tally to 24 cases.

A male aged in his 30s is in self-isolation, while the origin of his infection is under investigation, according to York Region's dedicated website as of 5:45 March 18.

A woman aged in her 50s has a travel-related case of coronavirus. No details were provided regarding self-isolation or hospitalization.

Of the 24 cases in York Region, nine cases are in Vaughan, six in Richmond Hill, five in Markham, two in Newmarket, one in East Gwillimbury and one in Aurora.

Two additional travel-related cases in Niagara and Chatham Kent are reported on the province's dedicated website, bringing Ontario's total of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 214 for March 18, the day after Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency for the coronavirus pandemic.
