UPDATE: Serious collision closed Hwy. 400 near Barrie, Innisfil

UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.: A serious crash this morning on Highway 400 in Barrie sent a woman and her two-year-old child to hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to OPP.

The incident closed Highway 400 in both directions between Innisfil Beach Road and Barrie's Mapleview Drive for part of Friday morning. All lanes are now open.

A man who was the driver of the vehicle that rolled was unhurt and faces charges that have not yet been released, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

A serious collision closed portions of Highway 400 in both directions between Innisfil Beach Road and Barrie's Mapleview Drive for part of Friday morning.

The OPP's highway safety division is reporting two vehicles were involved in the incident, and one rolled over. They say the first vehicle is alleged to have been travelling "erratically," leading to the collision. 

Two occupants in the vehicle that rolled were injured and transported to hospital. 

The cleanup continues. 

Police said around 9 a.m. that all northbound lanes, and one southbound lane, had reopened.

Emergency crews received the call around 7:30 a.m. Photos from the scene also show an Ornge air ambulance had been dispatched. 

No other information has been released.
