Dump truck crashes, spills diesel near Highway 400 in Bradford

Incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday; clean-up effort expected to last until 8 p.m.

Updated April 29 at 1:19 p.m.: A dump truck crash caused quite a clean-up effort alongside Highway 400 in Bradford Monday morning.

At about 3:30 a.m. on April 29, emergency crews responded to a report the truck went into a ditch near the northbound lanes of the highway, close to Line 13. There were no injuries reported, but the vehicle lost about 100 litres of diesel fuel.

Heavy-tow crews were still on scene several hours later, while Ministry of Environment personnel were called to assess the effect of the spill on the surrounding area.

Aurora OPP says the right northbound lane will be closed for clean-up until about 8 p.m.

The truck operator has been charged with careless driving.
