Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Newmarket and Georgina for the late afternoon today.
Visibility may be suddenly and significantly reduced under lake effect snow bands, according to the advisory. Roads may become snow covered and icy.
Lake effect snow to the southeast of Lake Simcoe will weaken early this evening.
The advisory is also in place for Uxbridge and Beaverton in northern Durham Region.
