York Region boy, 15, arrested in stabbing of Oakville senior

The victim and suspect are known to each other, Halton police say

Halton Regional Police Service tactical officers arrested a 15-year-old boy on a GO Transit bus in Peel Region today in connection with the stabbing of a 79-year-old Oakville woman.

The woman remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following the incident that occurred June 3 at about 8 a.m. at a home on Melvin Drive in Oakville.  

The victim and the suspect, who had fled the scene prior to police arrival, are known to one another, police said in a news release.

Charges are pending, Halton Det. Omar Nadim said.  

Police are not looking for additional suspects.

Halton Police thank GO Transit and Peel Police for their assistance in the investigation.
