Woodbridge, Bradford, Beeton men charged in parking lot 'road rage' incident

A road rage incident in a Bradford parking lot led to multiple charges and the recovery of stolen property.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020 around 12:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to the Home Depot parking lot on Holland Street West. Once on scene, [it is alleged that] a near collision in the parking lot sparked a road rage incident between the drivers of a hatchback and a pickup truck towing a trailer full of construction materials. The verbal dispute escalated with the hatchback driver damaging the pickup truck and the pickup truck driver brandishing a machete.

Further investigation revealed that the trailer and licence plate were stolen along with some of the construction materials.

Forty-nine-year-old Van Phuc Phan of Beeton was charged with:
    •    Assault
    •    Assault with a weapon
    •    Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime - four counts
    •    Theft under $5,000 - two counts

Forty-eight-year-old Thanh Huong Phan of Woodbridge, a passenger, was charged with:
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime - four counts
    •    Theft under $5,000

Nineteen-year-old Cooper Brown of Bradford was charged with mischief under $5,000.
