Woman sexually assaulted while walking in Richmond Hill trail

The 62-year-old defended herself against the suspect and was able to escape

A woman in Richmond Hill was grabbed and touched sexually while walking on a trail on July 13, according to York Regional Police. 

Officers received reports on July 17 that an incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, police said. A 62-year-old woman had been assaulted while walking in Springbrook Park. 

The victim was heading north on the trail between Red Maple Road and Duncan Road when an unknown male suspect grabbed her from behind and touched her in a sexual manner. The woman was able to defend herself and escape and the suspect fled on foot, heading south on the trail. 

The suspect is described as a West Asian male, aged 25 to 30. He is 5'10" tall, 165 pounds, with a medium build. He is said to be clean shaven and has short black hair. At the time, he was wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts and black running shoes. 

YRP is asking for any witnesses or anyone who could identify this suspect to come forward.
