Woman faces life-threatening injuries after 2 pedestrians struck by vehicle in Richmond Hill

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses after two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, just after 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Essex Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive East for reports that two pedestrians had been hit by a vehicle.

A 53-year-old female was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second pedestrian, a 60-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a black GMC Sierra, remained at the scene and was not injured.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
