A youth has been charged with sexual assault following an incident earlier this week in Markham.
On Friday, York Regional Police said the suspect surrendered himself after seeing media coverage of the incident.
“York Regional Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance,” police said in a news release.

Police are looking for a suspect following a sexual assault in Markham.
On Jan. 13, a victim was on a public transit bus from Kennedy and Eglinton in Toronto when a man attempted to start a conversation with her. When the victim got off the bus in Markham, the man followed her and touched her for a sexual purpose, York Regional Police said in a news release.
The suspect is described as a South Asian man, about 20 years old, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, black pants, black shoes, a blue hooded sweater, and carrying Timberland boots.
