Whitchurch-Stouffville man dies in fiery collision

The vehicle struck a bridge pillar near Woodbine and Vandorf and was on fire when police arrived

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 11:23 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Woodbine Avenue and Vandorf Side Road for a report of a collision. When officers arrived they found that a silver Mercedes sport utility vehicle had collided with a bridge pillar and was on fire. Once the fire was extinguished, officers located a man in the driver’s seat who was deceased.

The driver was identified as a 68-year-old man from the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision or any of the driving leading up to the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
