Investigators with the #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses and any information that may help to identify suspects following a shooting that occurred outside of a residence in the City of Vaughan.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 shortly before 3 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a report of multiple shots fired outside of a residence on Petticoat Road, which is in the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West and McNaughton Road East. When officers arrived, they located several people who advised that multiple gun shots had been fired in the area.

Officers located more than 20 shell casings in the area, but were unable to locate any suspects or victims. A short time later, investigators were directed to a hospital where two men, a 24-year-old and a 22-year-old, were receiving treatment for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Investigators have learned that the shooting occurred at a party that was taking place at a short-term rental property. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., multiple gunshots were fired in front of the residence and in the backyard.

Video surveillance of the shooting is being released and investigators are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward. The video shows three clips. The first is a white four-door car travelling on Petticoat Road with shots being fired from the moving vehicle. Additional gunshots can then be heard coming from the rear of the home on Petticoat Road. The video also shows two suspects, armed with handguns, approaching the rear of the home from Lealinds Road. Finally there are two suspect vehicles seen travelling on Lealinds Road, the white four-door sedan and a black four-door sedan.

“These shooting incidents are very concerning and unfortunately a GTA-wide problem,” said Chief Eric Jolliffe. “Gun crime has no borders and we must all work together to combat it.”
