Investigators with the York Regional Police Organized Crime Bureau - Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit, have executed search warrants and seized more than $500,000 in synthetic drugs.
In February 2018, an investigation began in the Town of Richmond Hill regarding two men who were believed to be trafficking synthetic drugs. As the investigation progressed, investigators found that the trafficking ring was well organized and involved a number of additional suspects who were acting as runners.
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, undercover officers purchased more than three kilograms of methamphetamine from one of the suspects. Following the transaction, which took place in the City of Markham, a series of simultaneous arrests took place. Subsequent search warrants were executed and at one residence on Brigadoon Crescent in the City of Toronto, two kilograms of ketamine and 10 ounces of cocaine were also seized. The value of the seizure was more than $500,000 dollars.
