Video captures suspect shooting at Vaughan business

York Regional Police are releasing video and seeking assistance in identifying a suspect following a daytime shooting March 10

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are releasing video and seeking assistance in identifying a suspect after shots were fired at a business in the City of Vaughan. 

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, shortly before 3 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a business located in the area of Highway 7 and Highway 50 in Vaughan for a report that shots had been fired at the business the previous day. When officers arrived they learned that there had been no injuries and the incident was captured on video surveillance. 

The video shows a lone male suspect approach the business at 11:55 a.m., on March 10, 2020. The suspect fired several shots at the building from a handgun then fled from the area.

  • Male 
  • Medium build 
  • Wearing a black jacket 

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or anyone who was driving in the area at the time with dashcam footage to please come forward. 

York Regional Police is asking residents and business owners in our community to partner with us in community safety by signing up for the new Security Camera Registry. The Security Camera Registry gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed residential or commercial security cameras, which may assist police if a crime later occurs in that area. 

Participants can visit yrp.ca/RegisterMyCam and complete the brief online registration form to add their cameras to the registry. Upon completing the form, participants will also be asked to verify their email address in order to complete the registration.
