Victim robbed of cash, vehicle in carjacking outside Vaughan bank

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspect following a carjacking in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, just after 11 p.m., officers were called to a commercial plaza parking lot located at 3737 Major Mackenzie Drive West for a report of a robbery and carjacking.

The victim reported that he had parked his vehicle in the parking lot then went into the bank to withdraw a quantity of cash. When he walked out of the bank a male suspect armed with a handgun demanded his wallet and keys. The suspect took the money from his wallet then drove off in his green Ford Escape.

The suspect was described as male, mid 20s, 5’7” with a medium build, brown skin tone, wearing a black mask, black hoodie and black gloves.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident.
