Victim assaulted after refusing to hand over keys in Richmond Hill carjacking

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking two suspects following a carjacking in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 around 8 p.m., officers were called to the area of High Tech Road and Yonge Street for a report of a carjacking.

The victim had been driving a 2022 black Honda Civic and had parked his vehicle outside of an establishment in a parking lot. He was standing outside his vehicle when two male suspects approached him asking for his keys. The victim refused and both suspects assaulted him and took his keys.

The two male suspects got into the vehicle and fled the scene prior to police arriving.

One suspect is described as male, 6’, 20 years of age and wearing a dark hoodie. The other suspect is described as male, 5’7’ and wearing a dark hoodie and stretch pants.

The 54-year-old male victim received non life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident.
