Investigators with York Regional Police Homicide Unit continue to seek witnesses after the victim involved in a shooting in the City of Vaughan early this morning has succumbed to his injuries.
On Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police responded to reports of gunshots fired in the area of Interchange Way and Highway 7. When officers arrived, they located a male victim with gunshot wounds.
The male victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as Moses Alphonso Wright, 20, from the City of Brampton, known by his family and friends as MJ.
Investigators continue to urge potential witnesses in the area at the time of the incident to please come forward to speak with the police. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways.
Initially, it was reported to police that a blue vehicle was possibly involved; however, investigators have been unable to confirm that and are asking the media not to report this information in order to allow witnesses to report their independent recollection.
The investigation is ongoing.
