Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses and the driver of a suspect vehicle following a serious pedestrian collision in the city of Vaughan where the driver failed to remain at the scene.

On Thursday, March 31, at approximately 9 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Hedgerow Lane and Highway 27, for a report of a fail-to-remain collision.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that the victim, a 62-year-old man from Vaughan, had been crossing the street with his wife when he was struck by a vehicle driving north on Highway 27.

The vehicle, described as a dark-coloured sedan, did not remain at the scene and was last seen going north on Highway 27.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Police are seeking a possible witness, a female driver with brown hair, who was driving a white Audi SUV who stopped at the scene.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
