UPDATE: Police continue search for 2 suspects in Aurora shooting

The 31-year-old victim, who was shot Friday while in his parked SUV, is expected to survive

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the Town of Aurora.

On Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, shortly after 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting on Hackwood Crescent, which is in the area of Bayview Avenue and Stone Road. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries and is expected to survive.

Investigators believe that the victim was in his vehicle, a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle, on Hackwood Crescent when he was approached by two men who were operating a grey sedan. One of the occupants of the grey sedan shot the victim then fled the area.

Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area of any of the incidents.

York Regional Police reminds residents and business owners in our community they can partner with us in community safety by signing up for the new Security Camera Registry. The Security Camera Registry gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed residential or commercial security cameras, which may assist police if a crime later occurs in that area.

Upon completing the form, participants will also be asked to verify their email address in order to complete the registration. This investigation is ongoing.
