Unidentified driver died in fiery single-vehicle collision in Markham

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the City of Markham.

On Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Ninth Line just north of Steeles Avenue.  Officers believe that a blue Ford Fusion collided into a cement pillar, then caught on fire.

The driver was deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
