Toronto woman faces murder charge after victim dies in Vaughan stabbing

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have charged a 26-year-old woman from Toronto with second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing in the City of Vaughan.

On Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at approximately 2 a.m., officers received a call to attend a night club located at 2180 Steeles Ave. for a report of a stabbing. 

When officers arrived, they located an adult male who was suffering from stab wound injuries. 

The suspect was arrested at the time of the incident and was charged with attempted murder. 

On Aug. 19, 2021, the victim sadly passed away in hospital and the Homicide Unit took over the investigation. 

The victim was identified as Elijah Ekland, 28, of the City of Mississauga. 

On Aug. 26, 2021, the accused was charged with murder in connection with the death. 

Charged:

  • Efrah Mohamud, 26, of Toronto 

Charges:

  •  Second-degree murder
