Toronto man accused of sexually assaulting young girl

Investigators with the York Regional Police Number 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid charges following a sexual assault in Richmond Hill.

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, Halloween night, at approximately 8 p.m, an unknown man approached two young girls in the lobby of an apartment building at 45 Baif Boulevard, which is in the area of Yonge Street and Weldrick Road West. He engaged the children in conversation, then sexually assaulted one of them. He then encouraged the victim to return later that evening.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, the suspect turned himself into investigators at the Number 2 District Headquarters at 171 Major Mackenzie Dr. West.

Investigators are releasing an image of the accused to ensure that there are no further victims.

Mr. Sanmugavadivel has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Dec. 28, 2018.
