Three men set fire to Mercedes in Markham driveway, police say

One of the men may have been burned after the car burst into flames in the Leslie and John streets area

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to identify three suspects following a vehicle fire that was intentionally set in the driveway of a residence in the City of Markham.

On Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at 5:20 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Bradgate Drive, which is in the area of Leslie Street and John Street, for a report of a vehicle on fire. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence fully engulfed.

Investigation has revealed that three men walked up to the vehicle, smashed the passenger side window, doused the inside of the vehicle with gasoline, then lit it on fire. Based on the video surveillance, it appears that one of the suspects may have been burned.

Investigators are releasing video surveillance of the incident and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist with identifying the suspects.

Suspect Descriptions:

  • Three males
  • Wearing dark clothing
  • May have suffered burn injuries
