Suspects sought in Markham armed bank robbery

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance in identifying two suspects following a robbery at a bank in the City of Markham.  

On Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, shortly after 5 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a bank in the area of Main Street Markham North and George Street for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, they found several employees and customers who had witnessed the robbery.

Investigators believe that two men entered though the front doors of the bank and began yelling at customers not to move. One of the men was armed with a handgun. They made a demand for cash and the employees complied. The suspects fled on foot southbound toward Highway 7, entered a black sedan, which drove away from the area. There were no physical injuries.

Suspect 1:

  • Male, Black
  • 6’
  • 20 to 30 years
  • Thin build
  • Wearing blue jeans, a black hooded jacket, black gloves and a black balaclava covering his face
  • Armed with a handgun

  • Male
  • 6’3”
  • 20 to 30 years
  • Thin build
  • Wearing blue jeans, a black hooded jacket, black gloves and a black balaclava covering his face
