Suspect uses baby carrier to steal laptops from Vaughan Walmart

A woman fled in a black car after she was confronted by employees, according to Crime Stoppers of York Region's crime of the week

A woman stole two laptops from a Walmart in Vaughan, using a baby carrier and blanket to hide them in plain sight, York Regional Police said. 

A suspect was seen on surveillance video entering the store at 700 Centre St. in Vaughan, at about 9:45 p.m. Aug. 30, according to Crime Stoppers crime of the week. She went to the electronics section and broke a lock mechanism to gain access to secured laptops. 

The female suspect took out two Acer laptops and placed them in a baby carrier, then covered it with a blanket. She attempted to leave the store without paying for the items but was confronted by employees. Police said she then fled in a black Chevrolet Equinox. 

The suspect is described as a white female, age 40 to 45, with a medium build and long black hair that was in a bun. At the time, she was wearing glasses, a black T-shirt with pink writing, camouflage leggings, and black and white shoes.
