Today, most York Regional Police officers conduct patrols in a Ford Utility Police Interceptor, like this one, parked in front of York Regional Police headquarters at 47 Don Hillock Dr., Aurora, in 2018.

York Regional Police is asking drivers to take an alternate route after a serious collision has forced the closure of Highway 11 in East Gwillimbury on Wednesday afternoon.

Both the north and southbound lanes of the road from Bathurst to Yonge streets are closed for the investigation.

The collision occurred at about 4 p.m between Morning Sideroad and Dog Wood Boulevard.

According to police, the highway will remain closed for an unknown length of time.

Further details will be provided as they become available.
