Vaughan robbery suspect considered armed and dangerous, warn police

A grocery store at Highwy 27 and Langstaff was robbed yesterday morning

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking public assistance to locate a suspect wanted following an armed robbery at a grocery store in the City of Vaughan.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 shortly after 8 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a grocery store in the area of Highway 27 and Langstaff Road. When officers arrived they located several employees who were not physically harmed.

Investigators have learned that the suspect entered the store and approached a cashier. He was armed with a handgun and made a demand for cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled the area in a vehicle. The suspect has been identified from images obtained through video surveillance and investigators are appealing to anyone with information on his whereabouts to please come forward. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and he should not be approached. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you spot him.

  • Shawn Chaulk, 54, no fixed address
  • Male, white
  • 5’9”, 160 lbs
  • Short blonde hair
  • Scruffy beard
  • Described as having bad teeth
  • Armed with a handgun

Suspect vehicle:

  • Honda Civic
  • Four-door
  • Blue
