Richmond Hill woman dies after being struck by transport truck

A York Region resident has died after a collision involving a pedestrian and a transport truck near Kitchener. 

The Waterloo Regional Police Service's traffic unit is investigating the incident that took place Wednesday at around 9:30 p.m.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Fountain Street North and Otter Court, just west of the Region of Waterloo Airport, for reports of a collision, Waterloo police said in a news release.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old woman from Richmond Hill, was transported to hospital by paramedics with life-threatening injuries. 

Shortly after, she was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. 

The victim's name was not released by police.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
