York Regional Police have charged a 34-year-old man from the Town of Richmond Hill in connection with a historical sexual assault investigation involving a teenaged female student.
On Feb. 3, 2020, York Regional Police began an investigation after receiving information about sexual offences that occurred beginning in 2011 involving a high school teacher and a student under 18 years of age.
The name and location of the school are not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused has been working as a high school teacher with the York Catholic District School Board at a high school in the City of Richmond Hill since 2010. Investigators want to ensure that there are no additional victims and are asking anyone with information to please come forward.

• Sexual exploitation x2
The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on March 17, 2020. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages victims to report incidents of sexual assault, including historical offences. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
