Richmond Hill resident tied up in armed daytime home invasion

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking witnesses following a home invasion robbery in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, shortly after 3 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Squire Drive, which is in the area of Yonge Street and Bernard Avenue, for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived they found a 39-year-old female victim who was not physically injured.

Investigators were advised that three men, armed with handguns, had forced their way into the residence, but no one was home. While they were inside the residence, the homeowner came home and entered the residence and was confronted by the suspects. They used zip ties to tie her hands and demanded cash. The victim complied and the suspects fled. The victim fled to a nearby school for assistance and 9-1-1 was called.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police or anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time with a dashcam to please come forward.
