Richmond Hill man charged after drugs, replica firearm seized in traffic stop

York Regional Police has seized a replica firearm and more than $5,000 in drugs after a traffic stop in Markham.

On Friday, Jan. 15, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 7 near Woodbine Avenue. The officer observed a handgun inside the vehicle and placed the driver under arrest.

The driver and the vehicle were searched and officers located a baton and more than $5,000 in drugs including cocaine, crystal meth, ecstasy, heroin and carfentanyl. The firearm was determined to be a replica.

Charged:
    •    Peter Tatulis, 60, of Richmond Hill

Charges include:
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - crystal meth
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - ecstasy
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - heroin
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - other schedule 1 substance x2
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking - other schedule 4 substance
    •    Possession of a weapon x2
    •    Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
    •    Several Highway Traffic Act offences

The investigation is ongoing.
