Richmond Hill man arrested in connection with construction site thefts

Police have released photographs of more than $100,000 in recovered property believed to have been stolen across York Region

Investigators with the #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 30-year-old man and recovered more than $100,000 in property believed to have been stolen from construction sites in York Region.

On Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, York Regional Police were called to a construction site located in the area of Dufferin Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West in the City of Vaughan, for a report of a theft. Officers learned that at some time overnight, a locked shed had been broken into and a hammer and skid steer forks had been stolen. As the investigation continued, a suspect was identified and found to be responsible for multiple thefts from construction sites across York Region.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, the suspect was placed under arrest. Subsequent search warrants were executed and stolen construction equipment has been recovered.

  • Theft
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with recognizance
  • Fail to comply with probation order
