Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance to identify a suspect following a robbery at a barber shop in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at approximately 10 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a barber shop on Yonge Street, north of High Tech Road, for a report of a robbery.

A male suspect entered the store and approached an employee and a customer, demanding their belongings. The suspect assaulted the employee and grabbed a bag with the employee’s wallet, phone and other items, then fled from the store.

The suspect was described as male, wearing all black clothing, black gloves and a white mask covering most of his face.

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
