Two victims assaulted in violent attempted carjacking in Markham

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking three suspects following a violent attempted carjacking in the City of Markham.

On Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 5:40 a.m., officers were called to a residence on Montgomery Court in the area of McPhail Court for a report of an attempted carjacking.

The two victims had exited their vehicle, a 2020 white Mercedes GLC, when two male suspects approached them. One suspect pulled the driver to the ground while assaulting him and demanding his keys. The second suspect pushed the second victim, the passenger of the vehicle, up against the wall and assaulted him while demanding the keys. The victims refused. The passenger freed himself and ran toward the road where a third suspect was waiting and pointed a firearm at the two victims.

The three suspects got into a black sedan and fled the area prior to police arriving.

The first suspect is described as male, Black, 5’11”, 150 lbs.

The second suspect is describes as male, Black, 6’, 190 lbs.

The third suspect is described as male, white, 5’9”.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident.
