Police seek witnesses to fatal pedestrian collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, shortly before 6 a.m., York Regional Police responded to the area of Ninth Line, north of Winterberry Drive for a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located the pedestrian, an 84-year-old man, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where sadly he succumbed to his injuries.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.

Investigators are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the collision who have not yet spoken to investigators to please come forward.
