Police seek witnesses following fatal collision in Vaughan

A 50-year-old man from Vaughan was pronounced deceased at the scene in a collision today that caused his Mazda hatchback to go off the road and into a ditch on Rutherford Road.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in Vaughan.

On Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at 6:40 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Rutherford Road, just west of Peter Rupert Way, in Vaughan. 

When officers arrived, they located a white Mazda hatchback that had gone off the road and into a ditch. Investigators believe the white Mazda was westbound on Rutherford Road and was hit by a brown Buick Enclave going east. 

The driver of the Mazda, a 50-year-old man from Vaughan, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Buick, a 20-year-old man from Brampton, was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.
