UPDATE: Woman found in Richmond Hill reunited with family

Concerned citizen called police about a woman who was not dressed for weather; woman appears to be non-verbal, police said

March 28, 3:30 p.m: York Regional Police report that the woman found in Richmond Hill has been identified and her family has been located. "Thank you to all who assisted with sharing her photo and description," police said.

York Regional Police are seeking the public's assistance to help identify a woman who was found in Richmond Hill earlier today. 

At 9:20 a.m., police were called to the area of Atkinson Road and Centre Street for a report of an unknown woman who had been found by a concerned citizen. 

When officers arrived, they spoke with the woman who was not dressed for the weather and appeared to have been outdoors for some time, police said in a news release.

She appears to be non-verbal and officers have been unable to determine her identity. 

Officers have ensured her safety and well-being, but are appealing to the public for any information on her identity and are seeking her family members or caregivers. Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately. 

She is described as:

  • Female
  • White
  • Thin build
  • 5 feet 7 inches tall
  • Shoulder-length blond hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Wearing a green sweater, black jogging pants and black shoes
