Police release sketch of suspect in Aurora sexual assault

Police are continuing their investigation after a teenage girl was injured and sexually assaulted on the trails west of John West Way Monday

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are releasing a composite sketch of a suspect following a sexual assault that occurred in the Town of Aurora.

On Monday, June 24, 2019, at 11:50 a.m., York Regional Police were called to John West Way north of Wellington Street for a report that a teenage girl was injured and had been sexually assaulted. Investigators have determined that the female victim was walking in the trails west of John West Way when she was approached by an unknown man, assaulted and sexually assaulted by a suspect who was armed with a handgun. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for her minor physical injuries.

Suspect description:

  • Male, light-brown skin tone
  • 20s
  • Thin build
  • Wearing a black shirt, black pants and a red baseball cap

Anyone with information or anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area at the time is asked to contact police immediately. Investigators are also appealing to any nearby businesses or residences that may have video surveillance, or any drivers who may have dashcam footage to please come forward.
