Police post video in bid to identify witnesses to Markham homicide

The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle; Police hope two witnesses will come forward or be identified

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are looking to speak with two witnesses captured on video surveillance.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, shortly after 11 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a restaurant located at 5460 Highway 7 East, after several calls were received reporting sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived, they located a deceased man at the scene, later identified as 39-year-old Wai Loon (Allen) Kong, with connections to both the City of Markham and the Town of Collingwood.

The suspect remains at large and investigators continue to appeal for any information on identity and for any information that may assist in identifying the year, make and model of the motorcycle.

Investigators are also interested in any video surveillance from local gas stations, businesses, residences and vehicle dashcams that may capture the suspect and motorcycle before or after the incident.
