Man armed with taser robs Georgina bank

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance to identify a suspect following a bank robbery in the Town of Georgina.

On Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called to a bank at 254 Pefferlaw Rd. for a report of a bank robbery. Officers learned that a male entered the bank and made a demand for money while pointing a conductive energy weapon at an employee. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot.

Suspect description:  

  • Male  
  • 40 to 50 years 
  • Slim build, short dark hair  
  • Wearing a black T-shirt, a black surgical mask, carrying a green construction sweater and a re-usable grocery bag

Investigators are seeking any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone who may have dashcam footage in the area at the time.
