Police look to identify suspect in rash of Buddhist temple break-ins

The suspect believed responsible for at least four separate break-and-enter incidents where cash was stolen from donation bins

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect following several recent break and enters into a temple the City of Markham.

A series of break and enters occurred between Nov. 8, 2018 and Nov. 26, 2018 at a Buddhist temple located in the area of Bayview Avenue, north of Steeles Avenue. On at least four separate occasions, the suspect forced entry into the temple and stole cash from the donation bins.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance (below) and investigators are releasing the images and are appealing to the public for assistance to identify the suspect.

Suspect Description:
    •    Male, white
    •    Late 30s to 40s
    •    Wearing black framed glasses
