York Regional Police is appealing to auto body and mechanical repair shops in York Region and the Greater Toronto Area that may have repaired a dark-coloured Honda Civic involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Richmond Hill more than six months ago.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive East and Cedar Avenue for reports of a pedestrian struck by a car, police said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they learned a 26-year-old woman had been crossing the street when she was hit by a dark-coloured Honda Civic that failed to remain at the scene. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Prior to the collision, the suspect was stopped at the traffic lights on Major Mackenzie at Yonge Street in the eastbound lanes, facing east. Police are seeking any witnesses in the area between 9 and 9:15 p.m. Sept. 1, 2022.
