Pedestrian left with life-threatening injuries in hit and run

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses and a suspect following a serious pedestrian fail-to-remain collision in the City of Markham.   

On Saturday, Sept. 16, 2018 at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of Birchmount Road and Royal Crest Court after a pedestrian was struck. The vehicle fled the scene.

The description of the suspect vehicle is a light-coloured SUV. 

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man from the City of Toronto, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation. Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police are being asked to please come forward, as well anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time that may have dashcam footage.

Investigators are also appealing to anyone that has noticed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description with fresh, front end damage consistent with striking a person to contact police.
