Pedestrian, 79, dies following collision in Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at 11 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the intersection of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West for a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a grey Toyota Camry.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old woman from the City of Toronto, was initially transported to hospital with minor injuries, however, her condition worsened and she was sadly pronounced deceased on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022.

The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old woman from the City of Markham, remained at the scene and was not injured. The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area, are being asked to please come forward.
