Ontario Provincial Police say they will be enforcing new gathering limitations in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

With new limitations in place, police officers now have the authority to temporarily close any premises breaching limitations put in place on Sept. 19 (indoor: 10 people, previously 50 and outdoor: 25, previously 100).

In a new release, the OPP stated individuals will be required to leave the premises of an illegal gathering if it has been closed, and the individual will not be permitted to return/re-enter on the same day unless authorized by an officer.

OPP also remind the public that individuals who refuse to leave may be ticketed or charged.

The new limits do not apply to events or gatherings in staffed businesses and facilities, but does apply to social gatherings in private residences, backyard, parks, and other recreational areas.
